Wood Purchase December 24, 2015 John Haltom The first load of southern hardwoods! Harvested by a Mississippi arborist, these slabs have air dried in a warehouse for several years and are reading 14% moisture content. Next step is to kiln dry them to between 7-12%. Finished furniture is coming soon! The cherry logs were taken to a sawyer to mill at 10/4 thickness. They were then carefully stacked with stickers between them to allow for adequate air circulation as they air dry for approximately 2 years. The smaller cherry logs were bucked into firewood and donated to Lamar Lounge, a whole hog pit BBQ restaurant in Oxford, Mississippi. A Saturday spent in the sun getting a beautiful cherry tree that recently fell is a great day!
